I am going to try an make my own lentil soups. My first batch is coming to a boil now. See in the photo I bought some red lentils today? I am starting out with green lentils. I have lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of green lentils.

Next time I go shopping I'll get some split peas and try them also.

Red lentil soup should be the perfect Halloween food. Every canned lentil soup has spinach in it and I don't like that.

I'm not that fond of spinach, either. Really would prefer to make my own. Less salt in it as well, too. What other ingredients are you planning to put in your soup?

I'm getting ready to eat it now for lunch. The only thing that I put in it that isn't in the photo is some red onion.

Wish I had a submersion blender. I bought one at Wallmart about a year ago. It's rather handy. You can only run it for about a minute at full power, but it is handy. If you're going to get one, I'd read some reviews and make sure you get a good one.

I seen that. There is a name brand one that has gotten bad reviews. What brand do you have?

Red lentil soup should be the perfect Halloween food. Every canned lentil soup has spinach in it and I don't like that. Also all the canned split pea soups have ether ham, bacon or both.

I seen that. There is a name brand one that has gotten bad reviews. What brand do you have? It's made by "Bella." It works well, except that holding down the buttons wears out my hand after about half a minute. This may be why it was on sale. You may not have this problem, but if I ever bought another, think I'll try to find one with buttons that are easier to use.
